Mariposa's mixed-age classroom-style means I get to watch our children grow for years and bond with the families in a way, unlike other schools. Whether we are getting muddy in the garden or reading a book, we are learning and growing. Growing up as a Latina in East Austin, I feel it is important to make a contribution to the families of our school with the same background. I make a consistent effort to communicate with parents in Spanish. As a mother to a 10-year-old, I believe not all learning is done in the classroom. She and I enjoy museums, concerts, tinkering with small projects, going to the ballet, and socializing with a group of mixed-aged friends.

El estilo de aula de edad mixta de Mariposa significa que puedo ver a nuestros hijos crecer durante años y vincularme con las familias de alguna manera, a diferencia de otras escuelas. Ya sea que nos estemos embarrando en el jardín o leyendo un libro, estamos aprendiendo y creciendo. Al crecer como latina en el este de Austin, siento que es importante hacer una contribución a las familias de nuestra escuela con los mismos antecedentes.
