FAQ
Mariposa is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
Mariposa only offers full-time care for children 6 weeks - 4 years old.
To be placed on our waiting list call (512) 551-9877 or email us at office@mariposalearningcenter.org. There is no fee to be placed on the waiting list.
Once you have completed the wait-list documents, we will reach out once there is a space available for your student. At that time we will share immunization requirements, help with all the required paperwork, and assist if needed to get ready to being attendance.
Once your student has been offered a place for attendance we will help you schedule a visit to Mariposa.
Our tuition is set at $1500.00 per month. The true cost of attendance is closer to $2500.00 monthly. However, due to the generous support of donors we are able to make the base tuition $1500.00
More than 75% of our students receive a scholarship for a portion of our tuition. At Mariposa the ability to pay tuition is never a barrier. We believe that the young children of the Montopolis Community deserve access to high-quality nature based, bilingual early childhood education in their own neighborhoods.
Please reach out and have a conversation. Ability to pay should never be a barrier to education.
We do accept the subsidies through Workforce Solutions. Please reach out to apply and get on their waitlists. We can help you apply. Just give us a call!
At Mariposa Family Learning Center, we believe every child deserves access to high-quality early childhood education, regardless of background or circumstance. We are deeply committed to the Montopolis community of East Austin, an area recognized as a childcare desert, and strive to ensure that children here have the same—or even better—opportunities than peers in higher-income communities.
Guided by the work of Richard Louv, we understand the importance of nature in a child’s growth. Our classrooms and outdoor spaces are designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and well-being through exploration and connection with the natural world.
As a fully bilingual learning environment, we celebrate language and culture as vital tools for learning and connection. We honor each child’s unique identity while equipping them with the skills to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a diverse and interconnected world.
At Mariposa, our mission is simple: to create an inclusive, joyful, and enriching environment where every child in Montopolis can grow, explore, and succeed.
Each month, there is at least one opportunity for parents and caregivers to participate in programming at Mariposa. Our Growing Readers program is a monthly program where a guest reads aloud to the children, and each family receives a new book in the language of their choice.
Seasonally, we hold Saturday garden days, giving families the chance to explore and enjoy the work and produce of our school gardens.
We are excited to announce the launch of our Parent Advisory Council, a new way for parents and caregivers to provide input and support our school community.
At Mariposa, we partner with parents and caregivers daily to support the care, growth, and development of their child. We also offer seasonal conferences and are always available to meet in person or over the phone upon request.
At Mariposa, all children receive morning and afternoon snacks featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy. We participate in the USDA’s Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and follow all USDA nutrition guidelines to ensure healthy, balanced meals for every child.
We do not serve lunch. All students bring lunch each day. We do have assistance with suggested items, campus allergies, and ways to pack lunches that contribute to each students development.
